Clocks Tag
I wrote this tutorial on my own. Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental. I claim the copyright to my tutorial. This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about using selections. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Remember to save as a .psd file often! Download Supplies 1. Open the skyline image of your choice or the one from the zip file. Edit > Copy 2. Open up the Clock_PSCanvasRDB.psd . It will appear blank, but it actually has some pre-saved selections for you to use. 3. Image > Duplicate. close the original. 4. Edit > Paste. 5. Select > Load Selection
6. Choose the Clock01_RDB selection from the Channel Dropdown menu
7. Select > Inverse
8. Press the delete key. Your image should now be in a circle, like below.
9. Layer > New > layer
10. Select > Load Selection. Load the Clock02_RDB selection
11. Fill this selection with a gradient or color of your choice (what you would like for your border trim). I chose a purple gradient.
12. Layer > New > Layer 13. Select > Load Selection. Load the Clock03_RDB selection.
14. Fill the selection with the same border trim color or gradient that you used in Step 11 15. Select > Modify Selection > Contract Selection by 3 pixels
16. Edit > Fill. Fill with black color or a dark color. Your image should look like below. 17. Drag this top layer down one layer, so that the spokes show above the circle ring, like below.
18. Click back on the top layer. Layer > New > Layer 19. Select > Load Selection. Load Clock_04RDB selection. 20. Fill with the same gradient or border trim color as before.
21. Select > Modify selection > Contract Selection by 2 pixels.
22. Edit > Fill. Fill selection with black or dark color .
23. Layer > new > Layer. 24. Select > Load Selection. Load the Clock05_RDB selection. Fill with gradient or color trim. 25. Select > Modify > Contract by 2 pixels. Edit > Fill with dark color of your choice. Select > none If you would like to change the time that the clock hands point to, click on the layer of the hand that you wish to change. Then Edit > Transform > Rotate, and rotate the hand into the position that you want. Press the Check at the top of the program. 26. Click back on the top layer. Layer > New > Layer. 27. Select > Load Selection. Load the Clock06_RDB selection. Fill with the gradient or color border trim of your choice. 28. Select > Modify > Contract Selection by 1 pixel. 29. Edit > Fill Fill with white 30. Layer > New > Layer 31. Select > Load Selection. Load the Clock 07_RDB selection. Edit > Fill with black. Your image should look like below.
32. Layers > Merge Visible Add text as you would like. 33. Save this as a GIF: File > Save As
