This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about quick tube cutouts.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2.  You may download a free trial at Adobe.

Remember to save as a .psd file often!

1.  Open the photo that you wish to use.  Image > Duplicate.  Close the original.

2.  Choose the Polygonal Lasso Tool

3.  Set the Feather to 2 pixels.

4.  Very carefully, left click around the part of the photo that you wish to use.  Don't be afraid to left-click points/nodes close together.  Take your time.  When you get to the end, when you are back at where you started, you will see a circle show up by the cursor point.  Left-click and release and that will close the selection.

5.  Edit > Copy.

6.  File > New.  The size will already be set.  Edit > Paste.

7.  Here is your tube completed.  Save this as a PSD, so that you can use it for other projects!  File > Save As.

8.  Image > Duplicate.  MINIMIZE the original tube.  Image > Size.  Set the width so that it is NO BIGGER than 350 pixels.

9.  Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.  Radius = 10

10.  Filter > Texture > Stained Glass.  Cell Size = 10, border Thickness = 2, Light Intensity = 1

11.  Layer > New > Layer.  Edit > Fill with White.  Drag this layer to the bottom.

12.  Click back on the top layer.  Filter > Blur > Blur

13.  Edit > Fade Blur   Set Opacity = 22%, Mode = Soft Light

                          

14.  Slide the Opacity of the layer to 50%

14.  Open up the original tube.  Edit > Copy.

15.  Click back on the stained glass image.  Edit > Paste.

16.  Edit > Transform > Scale.  Change the width & height to 80%

17.  With the mover tool, move the tube over to the left or right, bottom.

18.  Right-click on this layer and choose Duplicate.

19.  Click on the second layer from the top.  Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur   Radius = 5

20.  HIDE the bottom layer (white) by clicking on the eye.  Then Right-click on the top layer and choose Merge Visible

21.  Image > Trim.  Trim the transparent areas

22.  UNHIDE the bottom layer by clicking on the eye again.

23.  Add your watermark and text.

24.  Layers > Flatten All

25.  Save this as a JPEG.  File > Save As.
