This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about creating a window scene. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS - CS3. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Remember to save as a .psd file often! Download a tree brush file from one of these places:
http://darkresources.deviantart.com/art/Autumn-Tree-29187155 Download and install the plugin Mura's Seamless Patterns D. You will need some images to decorate (but these are optional) 1. Open a new, transparent image, size = 500 x 400 pixels.
2. Choose the rectangle marquee selection tool. 3. In the selection toolbar at the top set the Style = Fixed Size. Then set the width = 500 px and height = 200 px (or 150 px)
4. Left-click and hold the mouse button down on the image. You will see a selection box of a certain size appear. While the mouse button is held down, drag the selection box to the bottom of the graphic.
5. Edit > Fill and flood-fill with a color of your choice. 6. Set the foreground color to black. THEN use the switch arrows. And set the foreground color to the color of your choice.
7. Filter > Render > Clouds This is an automatic filter.
8. Filter > Mura's Seamless > Checks. Apply these settings: Color R, G, B = 0, Effect = 255, Ratio = 192, Number = 3, Slant = 124, Offset,Gingham = 0.
9. Edit > Transform > Perspective
10. You will see a node in the lower left corner (see pink circle). Drag this node to the left. Do the same with the right node.
Now your picture should look like the checks are in perspective, fading to the back.
11. Select > Inverse
12. Layer > New > Layer
13. Selection > Modify > Expand by 2 pixels
14. Edit > Fill > use Color I chose color #3e3415 for a brown window sill color.
15. Select > Deselect
16. Choose the Rectangle Marquee tool, set Style = Normal.
17. Draw a rectangle selection that leaves the same margin on the left, right and bottom of the brown. BUT runs off the top of the image.
18. Press the DELETE key.
19. With the rectangle Marquee tool, draw a thin rectangle selection through the middle of the window.
20. Edit > Fill this selection with the same brown color. 21. Then use the rectangle Marquee tool to draw the vertical window slats, and fill each slat with the same brown color.
22. Select > Deselect.
23. Layer > new > Layer
24. Drag this new Layer to the bottom
25. Set the foreground color to a medium gray
26. Edit > fill the new bottom layer with Black color
27. Filter > Render > Clouds
28. Choose the paint brush tool. Click on the brushtip menu, then click on the side men (circled in pink) and choose Load Brushes. Browse around to find the tree brush that you saved.
29. Layer > New > Layer
30. Set the Brush tip to one of the tree/branch brushes that you loaded. I set mine to size = 500 px. You may have to change this number.
31. Set the foreground color to black. 32. Stamp a branch on the right side and the left side. I used 2 different branch brushes for a variety.
33. Click back on the bottom layer. Layer > New > Layer
34. Choose the Elliptical marquee Tool
35. Set the style to Fixed ratio (so you can draw a circle)
36. Draw a circle selection. Make the selection under one of the branches.
37. Set your foreground color to black, and the background to red or color of your choice.
38. Filter > Render > Clouds
39. Right-click on the moon layer and choose Blending Options. Click on the words INNER SHADOW. Do you have a highlight on inner shadow? If not, CLICK ON THE WORDS. Apply these settings: Blend Mode = Normal, color = black, Opacity = 75%, angle = 152, distance = 5, choke = 16, size = 38.
40. Click on the words OUTER GLOW. Apply these settings: Blend Mode = Soft Light, Opacity = 40, Noise = 0, Color = a white-yellow, technique = softer, spread = 9, size = 21
Click ok 41. Select > Deselect
42. Click on the brown window sill layer. With the magic wand, choose the brown window sill. 43. Right-click on the window layer and choose Blending Options. Click on the WORDS Bevel and Emboss. Apply these settings: style = inner bevel, technique = smooth, depth = 100, direction = up, size = 5, soften = 0, angle = 135, use global light, altitude = 58, highlight mode = screen, highlight color = SAME COLOR of your moon, opacity = 75%shadow mode = multiply, color = black, opacity = 75%
44. Layer > New > Layer
45. Select > All
46. Edit > Stroke. Width = 10 px, color = black, center
47. Choose the text tool and add your watermark or name. 48. Save this as a JPEG. File > Save As.
